LARRY KILLIP BIO/PROFILE
Larry Killip is an independent music producer/songwriter/artist residing in New Zealand. Larry makes eclectic pop/rock that along with Beatlesque influences tends to accentuate the positive. He is also known as producer of more than a few famous and notable jingles on NZ Radio and television.
Larry & The Ladders
A veteran of live music in New Zealand, Larry has played in many bands from the late 60’s through to the present day. Notably his band “Larry and The Ladders” had several single releases and television appearances in the early 1980’s.
Singles and Albums
First 45 release was in 1971 on the Philips label, with 2 further releases on The Family Label (Pye). 2 singles with Larry & the Ladders in the early 1980s, (RCA and Ripper records.) Album releases and more singles from 1997 to 2024 and onward.
Studio
Larry is an accomplished recording engineer and apart from his own albums has recorded many artists from tape days to digital daw, starting mid 70’s with his home studio in Sandringham Rd Auckland – 1980’s running Echopark Studios in City Rd Auckland – 1990’s sharing time at the famous Lab Studios Symonds St Auckland. Then as the Internet improved Larry worked from his home Studio in Lynfield Auckland and has been based there ever since. The visitors book reads like a who’s who of motorsport legends, Music Industry legends, entertainment and promotion giants, the famous and not so famous.
The Beths
Then along came NZ band The Beths. An association with Jonathan from The Beths led to Larry mastering their first two albums, ‘Future Me Hates Me’ and ‘Jump Rope Gazers’. Then a cameo appearance in their 2023 video ‘Expert in a Dying Field‘.
Any given day could see Larry recording his own music, recording and producing clients music, mastering, producing a jingle, audio post on a television program, repairing a vintage ribbon microphone or tinkering with his 1962 MK2 Jaguar.
